This weekend, I forgot to get a card for a birthday party we were going to.  So I did what I do best, I made my own birthday card.  It was really quick and I was able to get rid of some scraps in the process.  Yes, this card was made from scraps!!!!!  Yea!!!!!!!  I have a nice size bin I have been trying to use, so I was happy to get rid of 5 sheets of scraps, and create something beautiful at the same time.

So the next time you forget to purchase a card, and need one quick, I would suggest going through your stash, set your timer for 15-20 minutes and create a card without much thought...meaning when we put too much thought into our scrapbooking, we tend to spend more time worrying about what others will think or doubting ourselves and our ability to creating something nice, thoughtful and special.  So let's not doubt ourselves....just CREATE!

For today's Mother's Day card, I took a challenge from Elizabeth Kartchner's 52 More Scrapbooking Challenges book.  Challenge #3 was:  Life a design idea from a home-decor item.  In our living room, we havea tan colored chair that has dark-brown and blue pillows as seen above.  So hence the card: First I cut my card to size, then ran it through my Sizzix Texture Boutique to emboss the card front.  After that, I used Tim Holtz Broken China and Vintage Photo distress ink on the front of the card.  Next I stamped the sentiment with Dusty Concord Distress Ink and inked the edges on the sheet with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  And that was it, a really nice and simple Mother's Day card.

Although I have a tool to make things a lot easier for this technique, I must say I still had a hard time debating on which Embossing Folder to use.  First I picked out my cardstock and then selected my embossing folder before sending it though my Sizzix Texture Boutique Embossing Machine.  After embossing the card front, I used my craft sheet and applied Tim Holtz Dusty Concord Distress Ink to the card.  Lastly I finished the card off with some embellishments I had on hand and stamped the sentiment onto the embellishment.

I will have the materials used to make this card and Monday's card up tomorrow, so

My first card for Scrappy Monday is a Mother's Day card I made using some scraps and some Embellishments that I had on hand.  I really just picked five pieces of scraps I had in my scrap bin.  Cut them down to the size of the card and topped them off with some embellishments.  I had a good time making this card, it was quick and easy.  So go to your craft spot and pull out those scraps and make a card for a special Mom in your life.

See you tomorrow where I will showcase a card for Technique Tuesday!  I wonder what time of technique will be discussed........

Happy Scrappin'!

Hello Everyone!!!!!
I'm back.  I've been out for the past few months - I've just been extremely busy trying to adjust to my new life with two little ones.  Now that things are FINALLY back in order, it's time for me to get back to work on my blog and getting  some scrapbooking and cards created!  In the new year I will be making a few changes here on the blog, but have no fear, I think these updates will be good and will only enhance my blog.  I've been doing this whole blog thing for a little over a year now and I now have a better idea of what I want to put out and get out of this whole experience.
So with that being said, starting tomorrow, over the next six days, I will be having my very first Holiday Card Series.  The cards I will be creating will pertain to the following techniques:
Single Layer Card
Copic Markers and Border Trims
Ribbons
Inked Edges
Chipboard Embellishments
Background Stamping
I look forward to sharing my holiday cards with you over the next six days.  I hope you will stop by everyday and leave a comment letting me know what you think of the cards.

Happy World Card Making Day everyone!!!!  In honor of World Card Making Day, I thought I would show one of my recent cards to start off with.  Have a great day.

Happy Scrappin'

Today I decided to try the watermark technique as a background for a card I will be giving to my Grandmother.  The card was inspired by the book I recently completed, The Hand I Fan With by Tina McElroy Ansa.  I decided for the flower I would emboss on pattern scrap paper, and use some scrap ribbon I had on hand to further enhance the look of the card.  I also rounded the corners to bring a softer look and feel to the card.

Supplies Used:  Kraft Cardstock - from Michaels; scrap ribbon and pattern paper from personal stash; Versamark Ink; Inkssentials Big & Bossy Embossing Ink; Hero Arts Asian Fan Border Stamp; Stampendous! Fresh Bloom Stamp; Corner Chomper

As we all know Father's Day is vastly approaching....in 4 days to be exact.  Let's take this time out to think about the men (fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, etc.) who have made a great impact on our lives.  Let's do something special for them this year, something other than the typical dinner and a tie.  Let's make them feel appreciated.
